I never saw the original Jurassic Park movie (nor the 2nd and 3rd) in the theater when it was released. But this was one of the movies which made my childhood memorable in the video cassette era. The release of Jurassic World was something ardent fans, including me, had been waiting for more than 2 years. Being the first in China Mainland to watch the movie in IMAX 3D (2 days ahead of the rest of the world) here’s one of my first reviews for a movie:
Jurassic World is a worthy sequel to the original movie and stands out as roller-coaster ride for the hard-core dinosaur fans. The plot has been kept relatively simple and encompasses the use of subtle humor, good special effects and an incredibly high dose of ‘dino-action’. Chris Pratt, with his effortless acting dominates the screen while the other characters (Bryce, Irrfan etc.) manage to do a good job. The only disappointing performances were from the 2 brothers in the movie (Ty and Nick) failing to express the awe and shock associated with most of their parts (this was beautifully portrayed by the siblings in 'Jurassic Park’). While some scenes take you down the memory road, it’s the fast paced action sequences and thrills that keep you at the edge of your seat. The much hyped Indominus Rex steals the show, but it’s the other dinosaurs, that are going to steal your heart.
